    Questions parents ask us most

What is Early Intervention in Massachusetts?

Early Intervention (EI) is a free Massachusetts program for children from birth to age 3 who have a developmental delay, a diagnosed condition, or are at risk. Any parent can refer their own child, and you do not need a doctor's referral or insurance to start.

What happens when my child turns 3?

Early Intervention ends at age 3. If your child is eligible, services move to your local school district through an IEP (Individualized Education Program). The transition process should start months before the third birthday, and our Turning 3 guide walks you through every deadline.

I just got a diagnosis. What should I do first?

Start with our Just Diagnosed page and the free First 30 Days survival guide. They cover the calls to make, the paperwork that matters, and the emotional side of the first month, written by a Massachusetts parent who has been there.
